I have many monthly and quarterly reports that go out automatically and users are only getting the default top 10 pages in their report. I don't have the time to generate these manually at the intervals people want them. Not being able to set the reports to ship all the content in the PDFs I am sending is making the auto generated reports useless for some of my users. It would produce the summary of each report and then expand each report to the top 10, 25 or whatever rows. Now we can export the dashboard but then have to go into each report on the dashboard and individually print them.
Are we ever going to be able to have this functionality back? I created a similar report in the new analytics and the users don't like it. I don't like it also, I think Google missed the point that the report are not only for technical persons that like to tweak variables. I got the same feedback from many customers; they prefer the report from the previous report. I also prefer the report from the previous Analytics.

2) Creating a dashboard report in the previous version was 30 sec. with lot of useful information already included in the report. In the new version, it takes 15 minutes and lots of clicks for each customer.

Then you reach the limit on the information that you can append in the dashboard. Ok let's send a lot of reports instead... And repeat for each customers.

3) The reports are valid for 12 months. Then? We need to reactivate them or recreate them?

I think Google is adding great functionalities in the new version but it also miss important functions from the old version. The ‘Dashboards’ are too simplistic and the other option is to build custom reports. In the “Old” version I simply had to select which reports I wanted and the report was built for me. Now to rebuild 100’s of reports is going to be both time consuming and complicated. From what I see some of the “Old” reports may not replicated. Not to mention each report goes to at least 20 email address which is going to be a nightmare.

Is Google going to port over the “Old” reports into the “New” version or are we just forced to have to accept Google the giant has put its foot down and we have to accept the additional cost of making 100’s of new reports?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07427797762800326783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580069.post-21134985401089854562012-05-11T00:10:03.206-04:002012-05-11T00:10:03.206-04:00-Why the 12 months cap? Under the old system, my monthly PDF exports were comprised of a dashboard overview followed by more in-depth reports on each dashboard widget on the following pages... my PDFs were usually 10-12 pages. Some recipients of the PDFs just read the overview page, some preferred to drill down a bit more viewing the in-depth reports as well. Great stuff :)

Now a PDF export returns a 1-page dashboard, that's it. I have already broken my new-style dashboards into Content and Visitor dashboards, as there is a limit to the number of widgets you can have on a dashboard. If I carry on this way I'll be left with 3-4 1-page PDFs every month that i'll have to merge myself, and they are 'overview-only'.

Thank goodness I found the old reports still available as a link at the bottom of the page, so all is well presently. However I want to request:

- Widgets on a dashboard to be indicative of the presence of a full report for each widget. These reports accompany the dashboard page in any PDF export.

- Alternatively, a method to collect full reports on selected widget items WITHOUT interfering with the new dashboard style (dashboard widgets for 1-page overview reports, the ability to gather a collection of fuller reports into the one PDF export).

What do you think?sporkeaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07856148633061353104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580069.post-3029572266507491172012-04-29T20:17:43.888-04:002012-04-29T20:17:43.888-04:00Thank goodness i just found the old report style b...Thank goodness i just found the old report style button (now at the bottom of the page instead of the top menu), and can still generate the old-style reports. While I applaud Google bringing back PDF export to the new look Analytics, I find the PDFs ugly and more importantly delivering LESS data than the old. The old reporting style PDF had a front-page dashboard, which was then followed by in-depth reports of each item on that dashboard on a separate page... all in the one PDF. The new look PDFs are one page only, comprised of your dashboard... that's it. Even then, I have so far had to make separate Content and Visitor dashboards to accommodate the limited number of widgets one is allowed per dashboard. So I end up with 2 separate one-page PDFs, which I was just considering merging into 1 with a third party! online service, when i stumbled across the link to the old style reports. Please Google, it's a great product, can you bring back the dashboard being the front page of a multi-page PDF? This was (is) a great system - I would e-mail out a 12 page PDF to management each month, and those that wanted just an overview could peruse the dashboard alone, while those that wanted to drill down a bit more were able to do so by reading on through the report.sporkeaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07856148633061353104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580069.post-7757202629312752162012-04-26T11:57:41.954-04:002012-04-26T11:57:41.954-04:00I second @Floor's comment about the time limit...I second @Floor's comment about the time limit of a year. ...In response to Kate (and any others) asking about

sending more than 500 rows

You might want to try this slightly crude approach:

Go to the report in question. Select an option for the number of rows visible - it doesn't matter which, as long as you change it from the default setting.

Once the extra rows have loaded, in the address bar at the top, you will notice that the new report contains various extra blurb at the end, but there will be something like:
"explorer-table.rowCount%3D50/" at the end - where in this case I have selected 50 rows.

Manually change this number in the address bar to the number of rows you are wanting, then press return.

Note that the amount of time this will take depends on how many rows you have requested so don't go too mad unless you are prepared for a long wait (and potential browser timeout!). Once it has (finally) run, then set the email schedule now (which will be a fairly sluggish process as the browser will be weighed down with all the data)

I've tested it before and it worked for me (I've got a 900 row CSV file in my inbox from 9pm at night that proves it).

Hope that's of some help?Chappershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15019255698927581842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580069.post-80426150543290588552012-04-23T03:15:18.941-04:002012-04-23T03:15:18.941-04:00I'm very happy this functionality is available...I'm very happy this functionality is available now.

However, since I schedule a lot of e-mails for our customers, the time-limit of a year is unfortunate for me. I...Thank you Google for re-instating this feature. It is absolutely essential.

I agree with comment by Unknown:

- The ability to customise the date range an automated report applies to (instead of having the reported date range tied to report frequency). It would be great to send a weekly report that applies to the previous 30 days data for example.

Also, in the old version, when I set to 'compare with the past' (or compare with yesterday, for example), it would provide a handy bar chart comparison of current and past results, with percentage change. Any chance this can be added to the new version?

The old version's compare with the past had a flaw when using to compare month on month, because the days that were compared were based on date, rather than day of week. So for example 16 March was compared with 16 February. This turned out to be useless as a way of scanning trends, because they were often different days of the week, and our site had very discernable weekly traffic patterns, depending on day of week.

Sorry this is so long-winded, but my conclusion is that the comparison feature must enable comparison of days of week, not just dates.

Thanks for your consideration.ttcsahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12020117523829111343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580069.post-36809893106753390872012-04-18T06:50:03.343-04:002012-04-18T06:50:03.343-04:00Re:
