This is the 9th exciting episode of Web Analytics TV with Avinash Kaushik and Nick Mihailovski, where you ask questions about web analytics via the Google Analytics Google Moderator site and we answer them. We had lots of fun putting this episode and we hope you get a kick out of watching it. Here is the list of last week’s questions.

In this action-packed episode we discuss:

  • How to track each referral source overtime for visitors
  • How to share custom segments and reports with other people
  • Getting transaction data for only one referral source
  • Is there a place to share Google Analytics code snippets and regular expressions?
  • Cross domain tracking when users right-click and open in a new window
  • How you need to think about Page Speed and Google Analytics
  • Using the comparison report with two date ranges (and hypercube space)
  • Sending historical or futuristic data into Google Analytics
  • Why eCommerce reports do not match an eCommerce backend system
  • Tracking commas instead of decimals for revenue in eCommerce
  • Tracking pigViews (just watch the video :-)
  • Reporting on content consumption (like pageviews) by keywords
  • Setting the visible number of rows in reports
  • How to normalize keywords to replace underscore with spaces
  • Best practices on upgrading to async tracking code
  • Best practices to report on cities in a particular state

If you found this post helpful, we'd love to hear your comments. Or, please submit a question or vote for your favorite question in our public Google Moderator site and Avinash and I will answer the newest batch in a couple of weeks with another video.

Hi,
I liked this video, though a bit concerned about why eCommerce reports do not match an eCommerce backend system. I will also ask some questions on the public moderator site.

Hi, the "public Google Moderator site" URL is broken "This snipurl has been deleted or is private.".

For regex sharing, what about services like posterous? Companies have been building great communities using simple blogging, like Balsamiq (see Mockups To Go.)

If you don't want to use a non-Google service, even a Google Group would be helpful.

Hey guys, great video.
It took me a bit to figure out how to Share Custom Reports as Nick mentioned. If anyone else is wondering...

1. Go the account where the report you want to share is located.
2. Click on Custom Reporting on the left sidebar
3. Find the report you want to share and over on the right click "share"

If your wondering how to track goals (virtual pageviews) and events with the new Analytics Asynchronous code, check out the following blog post. Has a nice video tutorial as well.

Very disappointed with the trite explanation as to why ecommerce tracking is so inaccurate.

It shows a total misunderstanding of the problem.

Actually it's more likely to be refusal on everyone at Google to acknowledge that there is a problem with the ecommerce tracking.

Unless Google can admit there is a problem, they'll never be able to see it, and therefore never do anything to fix it.

I just don't understand why Google continues to dismiss this issue as if it doesn't matter.

Read the GA forum to see how many people are experiencing huge inaccuracies with CA ecom tracking.

It would be great if all items in list (questions) are linked to their start in a video. There's a lot of questions in each episode and it is time consuming to find start of each question of interest for us who don't want to watch the whole video.

This is fun - equal to a 5star vacation get away! Why... because I am clueless to what's being talked about. However, I know It all boils down to a Bottom Line's GROWTH. And like a 5star - it all sound (look) good!

Keep up the good work!

With regards to getting more than the 10 default rows returned at the account/profile level, the ROI Revolution GA greasemonkey script (and various firefox plugins) do a nice job of handling this.
